About the project

US-based kitchen software vendor Perfect Company has established itself as a trusted partner in revolutionizing kitchen workflows, delivering solutions designed to optimize efficiency from cooking to customer delivery. By focusing on the unique challenges of large-scale restaurant operations, where consistency and speed are paramount, Perfect Company’s tools empower franchises to streamline their processes, maximize productivity and boost sales.

When one of its Quick-Service Restaurant (QSR) customers sought to achieve consistency across its points of service by balancing drive-through orders with walk-ins, Perfect Company needed to leverage a technology that could capture the restaurant layout and accurately simulate the drive-through experience.

The challenge

One of Perfect Company’s QSR customers, which operates 500-600 restaurants, wanted to identify ways to optimize drive-through throughput. The issue was with its single-lane drive-through and unforeseen build-ups of traffic, which prevented further orders from being processed due to the cars at the front of the queue being held up creating a bottleneck that left customers frustrated.

The operational cost of long wait times motivated the chain to look for ways to load balance the orders of dine in and drive-through customers. Perfect Company wanted to test approaches that maximise drive-through orders without impacting the speed of service at the front counter.

In addition to this, the brand wanted to present the conceptual approach at its annual customer conference, two weeks from when Perfect Company first started working with Simul8. Perfect Company needed to demonstrate its value in the business chain and help the brand showcase how it would transform restaurant operations for its franchisee partners.
