What's Different About Process Objects

A very key difference between most standard Simul8 simulation objects and the process simulation objects is that the process objects handle material in a way that is much more efficient in circumstances where most of the work material is the same. With other Simul8 objects the assumption is made that each

Pipes

A Pipe is like a standard Simul8 routing arrow between Tanks. It’s created by linking two Tanks. Yet, Pipes differ from routing arrows because they are powerful in how they control flows. You can edit their Properties by double-clicking on them and delete them in exactly the same way as you would do for a routing arrow.

Process Oven

A Process Simulation Object is like an oven baking cookies but it can be used for many other purposes. In traditional Simul8 terms it can be compared to both an Activity and a Conveyor. However, like Tanks and Pipes, it handles continuous quantities of material rather than discrete units (whole numbers).

Tanks

A Tank is a vessel that can contain any quantity which we want to represent in units, such as kgs, tonnes etc., in particular liquids and gases. It is similar to a Queue in that it represents a storage area, which is passive. However, Queues can only can only contain discrete (whole number) quantities of material and simulate each item separately. In a Tank all the content is assumed to be the same, and to be measured in a continuous quantity - so the Tank can operate much more quickly t…
