Comparison Charts
These enable visual analysis of the results of each simulation scenario, making it easier for you to choose the optimal solution.
Multiple Scenarios
SIMUL8 2009 provides an additional tab to the Result Manager that integrates the Scenario Runner feature, the Scenarios tab.
In previous versions of SIMUL8, you could configure and save one set of scenario parameters. In SIMUL8 2009 you can configure and save as many scenarios as you require. The results sets generated by each scenario are collated and stored with their associated scenario, allowing you to easily access and analyse each set individually These results can be viewed in tabular or chart format (see section titled ‘Comparison Charts’) by selecting the ‘Results’ node beneath each scenario.

Results Filtering
Each time you run your simulation or conduct a trial, SIMUL8 records and stores all of the generated results and places them on the KPI History tab in the Results Manager.
This is an invaluable feature however, you can quickly find that the KPI History results table large and difficult to manage. You can remove individual columns (Run/Trials) or rows (KPI’s) in order to simplify things, this can be tedious.
SIMUL8 2009 provides the solution in the form of Results Filters. You can filter results tables by simply hiding undesired rows and columns and can be accessed via the filter button located to the top right hand corner of a results table (you will find filter buttons next to the results table on the KPI History tab and next to each result table associated to individual scenarios).

Defining your filters could not be easier. Simply check the boxes for the KPI’s (rows) and Runs/Trials (columns) that you would like to include in your filter.

You are free to create as many filters as you like. Applying a different filter to your table can be achieved by it from the popup menu.

Comparison Charts
Comparison Charts, new to SIMUL8 2009, allow you to easily visualize and identify differences in result sets. These spider charts provide a visual representation of the data displayed in the results tables found on the KPI History Tab and the results tables associated with individual scenarios.

To display the chart, check the box above the results table.

The chart displayed reflects the data in the corresponding table and therefore updates as you switch between filters. In addition, the chart dynamically updates as you move you mouse over the corresponding results table. When you place your mouse over a particular column, the comparison chart updates to display only the data for that column.

When you position you mouse over a particular row, the comparison chart updates to display the points and data values on the chart associated to that KPI (row).

Options to save and print the results tables and comparison charts can be accessed by popup menus found by right clicking on the tables or charts. If you have any questions on the Scenario Comparison Feature or would like further info then please contact our Simulation Advisors.

Hints and Tips
Did you know that you can configure SIMUL8 to record and store all of the results for each run within a trial? This can prove to be extremely informative when analysing the results generated by your trial. For example, did your trial contain an extreme outlier? To enable this facility select Tools->Preferences from the main menu and click on the Results tab on the Preferences dialog. Check to box titled ‘All Runs’.
