The Scenario Runner is a powerful feature that allows you to run different scenarios with the same model one after the other. It collates all the results together ready for export via a text file.

You enter Decision Factors that you want to experiment with. For example, variable values, properties of SIMUL8 Objects, values of spreadsheet cells etc. Then you enter a selection of values that you want to test. For example, you might want to test having between 1 and 4 resources available. When you run the scenarios, SIMUL8 will run the simulation first with 1 resources, then with 2, then with 3 and so on.

You can add as many values, and as many Decision Factors as you like. SIMUL8 will run every combination of the decision factors and values.

The Scenario Runner has a background execution option that lets you run SIMUL8 in the background. For example, you might want to go off an work in another application while the scenario runner is running, but sometimes other applications can seem slow when your computer is running a long simulation. This option makes SIMUL8 run as a low priority application, but does not have a huge impact on the time it takes to complete the runs.

Graphically display information on screen attached to a simulation object. You can display text, bars, and icons. You can specify conditions for different icon flags to be displayed and can display multiple bars so you can effectively create mini charts on the simulation window.

SIMUL8 can now automatically write results out to a Microsoft Word Template. You tell SIMUL8 what data you want exported and at the end of every run or a trial SIMUL8 exports to the location you specify in the word document.

Often there isn't time to collect detailed statistical information about the nature of random variations in a real operation. This makes it difficult to put into your simulation the same behavior as occurs in the real situation.

The new Sensitivity Analysis feature allows you to automatically analyze any distributions about which you have concerns to see which simulation results are sensitive to these distributions and by how much.

This feature is only available with SIMUL8 Professional

Record and play back macros. Just like in Excel all key and mouse moves are recorded.

This is a powerful feature because it allows you to record a macro for building a model and then replay that macro over and over again both in the same model or in a new blank simulation.

This is great for presentations and also a great labor saving device for routine tasks.

We've dramatically improved the quality of the chart displays in SIMUL8. The look is sophisticated and modern. Technically they're better too with more sophisticated axis and grid lines.

We've also improved the chart display is updated during a run to give a much smoother animation.

The Dashboard replaces the need to create spreadsheet interfaces for your simulations. The Dashboard lets you add information store variables and also specific spreadsheet cells and specify on the dashboard what their value should be on reset. You can add formatting and can insert blank rows so that you can add header lines if you like.

When a Trial has completed you can now extend it to a new number of runs to increase the accuracy, narrow confidence limits, without the need to re-run the previously executed runs.

SIMUL8’s internal random number generator can now be replaced by any random number generator you like.

You just need to supply a DLL to generate the numbers based on commands from SIMUL8. Example code for a simply generator supplied. Complete source code also provided and compiled DLL for a Mersenne Twister generator (the “generator for the 21 st century” with cycle over 2^19000).
