Topic: Does anyone have a model of a gantry over multiple machines?

I would like to simulate the following. I can't find any examples of robots or gantries on the website. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, i'd appreciate them.

One gantry (60ft long) with one head to reach into the machines (Efficiency 98%, repair in 30 seconds). The head has the cabability of carrying 2 work pieces
The gantry can move at 6 feet per second with an acceleration rate of 13 feet/s2 (this may not be possible to simulate).
It takes the gantry 5 seconds to reach into out out of a machine.
One work entry point (left end of gantry), one work exit point (right end of gantry)
5 machines each with a cycle time of 300 seconds. Efficiency of 95% with a repair time of 20 minuted
Gantry will be smart enough to monitor all machines and provide a part or take a part from the machine that needs it most.

Graphics (moving gantry head) would be fantastic, but one step at a time.....

Anyone created a simul8 model like this, or one similar?
Thanks

Hi,

Did you see the newsletter we did on this, it has a model you can download.

Yeah I did see that thanks. At the time the file had been removed, after speaking with them they put the file back, and I downloaded it.

It is a good sample of a visual movement of a gantry, but it is basically only simulating a random movement.

I'm after the code that would make the gantry make smart routing decisions based on machine availablity, travel distance (velocity and acceleration) and work piece requirement.

I'm actually working on the logic myself, and i'm hoping to be done in the next week or two.

I'm going to post it on her and ask for Simul8 users opnions about it!

Thanks for looking into this for me.
Chris
