Component Details - Switch

This component let you route to different destinations at different times - like a Switch that gets turned on and off at different times of day.

Unpack and install the component as normal by using the File menu, Components option, Install Components. The Switch Component should now be on the Build Tools 2 Toolbar. Drag and Drop the Component to the simulation window. Click on the screen - to get rid of the selection net - and then right click on the component. This will produce an incorrect menu if the component has a dotted line around it so click on the screen first to get rid of the selection. Choose the Remove Object Layer option. The Component will be unpacked to a Sub-Window. The sub-window will contain 4 objects: an Input store, 2 output stores, and another Switch component. Connect inputs to the Input Store.

The Primary Output is the destination during "Normal" hours, and the secondary store is the backup when out of hours, for example an answering machine rather than a telephone. Click on the Switch icon displayed between the stores and follow the on-screen instructions. You can set "Open and Closed" times. During the closed times work will be diverted to the Secondary store.

If you need to expand the functionality of this component you can do so. SIMUL8 Corporation offer a Component Building service, so if you need assistance in building or altering this or any other Component please contact us.
