SIMUL8 invited to speak at UK ‘Healthcare Capacity Planning Conference’

Claire Cordeaux, Lead for Healthcare at SIMUL8 Corporation, has been invited to speak at the ‘Transforming Capacity Planning (A European and Local Comparison) Conference’ on the 27th July.

The Conference invites academics to join with expert industrialist supporters to define a future direction for healthcare capacity planning and is being chaired by the ‘Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre’ (HaCIRIC).

Will GPs be using simulation to make commissioning decisions?

With the announcement that GPs are to get more control over healthcare budget spending, SIMUL8 Corporation believes that GPs will find simulation software helpful in enabling them to commission services, and is offering GPs access to simulation software and free training.

Friday’s Tip – make your simulations run faster

SIMUL8 is known for its very fast run times. Independent trials have been shown to be 6 times faster than our nearest speed competitor when running simulations of the same system. Our support manager, James, has put together some top tips to further increase the run speed of simulation:

Use SIMUL8’s Speed Analyzer to find out the sections of your code that take the longest to run and improve them
Change the Results Synchronization Interval using File>Preferences>Results.
If you are working with hundreds of thousands of work items that are essentially the same consider using High Volume
By default every simulation object in SIMUL8 collects results. Turn off results collection for objects you’re not interested in

SIMUL8 is fast. Very fast. We pride ourselves on developing software that has an unrivalled speed to provide you with the results of your simulation as quickly as possible, without compromising the accuracy. We’re so confident in this in fact that we had our software independantly verified, and it is notably faster than other simulation software.

SIMUL8 is forwards/backwards compatible. You can take any model built in any version and open it in the latest version with zero convertion time. Since version 5 (back in 1997) SIMUL8 has also been backward compatible, so you can build in SIMUL8 2010 and you can open and run your simulation in any version back
