SIMUL8 Corporation to enhance passenger journey at Gatwick Airport

SIMUL8 Corporation chosen to enhance passenger journey at Gatwick Airport

SIMUL8 Corporation further cemented its reputation in the Aviation industry with the launch of a major simulation project at Gatwick Airport, the UK’s second largest airport and the busiest single-runway airport in the world.

Gatwick is investing £1 million per day to modernize the airport and create a better passenger experience and as part of this is improving its check-in areas to deliver benefits for its airlines and for the 32 million passengers that journey through Gatwick each year with a better and speedier check-in experience.

“The check-in area of any airport is often the most memorable point of the passenger journey, and often the most challenging,” said Neil Hutcheon, SIMUL8 Consultant. “This project will give the team at Gatwick the ability to experiment with different check-in scenarios to find the most efficient and ensure the best possible experience for every passenger.”

O.R.52 Operational Research Conference 7-9th September

SIMUL8 Corporation attend the OR52 conference in London every year, and this year is no exception. In fact, it’s not just our CEO who will be presenting SIMUL8 at the conference, Sally Brailsford will also be speaking about her evaluation of SIMUL8′s Scenario Generator software. Sally evaluated the software with a team of colleagues from MASHnet (The UK Network for Modelling & Simulation), having been commissioned by the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement. I’ve included the abstract for her talk below – if you’re in the UK, check it out:

SIMUL8 invited to speak at UK ‘Healthcare Capacity Planning Conference’

Claire Cordeaux, Lead for Healthcare at SIMUL8 Corporation, has been invited to speak at the ‘Transforming Capacity Planning (A European and Local Comparison) Conference’ on the 27th July.

The Conference invites academics to join with expert industrialist supporters to define a future direction for healthcare capacity planning and is being chaired by the ‘Health and Care Infrastructure Research and Innovation Centre’ (HaCIRIC).

US software company says it can't see evidence of glut of graduates seeking work

AN American software firm with offices in Glasgow is struggling to recruit Scottish graduates despite a recent report saying 69 students are chasing every job. Boston-based Simul8 has launched a major recruitment drive to increase its staff by 25 per cent over the next six months. The company, which is used by the New Zealand and Scottish Government – for the Scottish court service – says it has to look to Europe and England for the recruits.

SIMUL8 and Scenario Generator Healthcare Users (HaCIRIC Project)

The University of Southampton is currently working with colleagues at Imperial College London as part of the HaCIRIC project to examine the use of simulation and modeling in group decision making & coordination within the National Health Service.

This study considers how models and simulations can be used in health sector operational and policy planning. The particular focus is on models used to bring together distributed knowledge and expertise.

They are keen to observe and conduct interviews with trusts and agencies using
SIMUL8 (or other DES modeling tools) in a group decision making or planning context.
